SIMPENEM®
INGREDIENT :
Each vial contains: Meropenem trihydrate 1.3344 g equivalent to Meropenem 1 g.
INDICATION :
Meropenem IV is indicated for adults and children who have single or multiple bacterial infections that are sensitive to meropenem:
» Pneumonia and nosocomial pneumonia.
» Urinary tract infection (UTI).
» Intra-abdominal infection.
» Gynecological infections, including endometritis.
» Skin and skin structure infections.
» Meningitis.
» Septicaemia.
» Empirical treatment, in adult patients with suspected infection with symptoms of febrile neutropenia, is used alone or in combination with antiviral or antifungal therapy.
DOSAGE AND USAGE :
Adult: 500 mg every 8 hours. Can be doubled in nosocomial infections (pneumonia, peritonitis, septicaemia and infections in patients with neutropenia).
Children 3 months - 12 years: 10-20 mg/kg every 8 hours.
Body weight more than 50 kg given the adult dose.
Meningitis: 2 grams every 8 hours, Children: 40 mg/kg every 8 hours.
Chronic lower respiratory tract infection in cystic fibrosis, 2 g every 8 hours. Children 4-12 years, 25-40 mg/kg every 8 hours.
