SIMPRAZOL®

 

INGREDIENT :

Each vial contains Esomeprazole sodium 128 mg equivalent to Esomeprazole 40 mg.

INDICATION :

» Gastric antisecretory treatment when oral administration is not possible such as for:

Gastroesophageal reflux disease in patients with esophagitis and/or severe reflux symptoms.

Healing of gastric ulcers associated with NSAID therapy.

» Short-term treatment of hemostasis and prevention of rebleeding in patients after endoscopic therapy for acute gastric bleeding or duodenal ulcer.

DOSAGE AND USAGE :

» Gastric antisecretory treatment when oral administration is not possible.

· Patients can not be given oral therapy, can be treated parenterally with a single dose of 20-40 mg per day.

· For healing of gastric ulcers associated with NSAID therapy, a single dose of 20 mg per day is given.

· Usually intravenous treatment and switching to oral medications should be initiated as soon as the situation allows.

 

» Short-term treatment of haemostasis and prevention of acute gastric bleeding or duodenal ulcers.

After endoscopic therapy for acute gastric bleeding and duodenal ulcers, 80 mg should be given as a bolus infusion over 30 minutes, followed by a continuous intravenous infusion of 8 mg/hour given for 3 days (72 hours).

· Parenteral treatment period should be followed by acid suppression therapy using a single dose of Esomeprazole Sodium 40 mg tablet for 4 weeks.
